A gentle walk to warm up and to see something of the local area. Duration is an hour to an hour and a half, mostly on roads, tracks and pathways, crossing streams. Passing through orange and olive groves and the neighbouring village of Ayelo De Rugat. Mostly gentle gradients with a couple of steep hills. Grade 1.
Mountain refuge
A steady to steep ascent along stony tracks zig-zagging up to about 500 metres. The refuge at the top provides an ideal stop for a packed lunch. Stunning views along the valley and to the sea. There and back 3 hours, or, there and on to Terrateig and back about 4 hours. Grade 2.
Valley and castle
An energetic scramble following the course of a stream via fonts, rockpools and waterfalls to about 500 metres. A fairly level traverse to a Moorish ruined castle. Enjoy a picnic with breathtaking views of the Vall d'Albaida. A scramble descent crossing streams by stepping stones and a track walk back to Montichelvo. Grade 3. |
